Valor is both a Shrine and Fanlisting for Richard Aiken, a character from the Resident Evil Series of games. The main focus of the site, is on the
Shrine part. I don't apply for fanlistings just to say I have them, or just to have them. I apply for them, because it's something I'm really into. If I can't make a shrine out of it, or if
it isn't something that I REALLY love, then I see little purpose in even running the fanlisting. I've always loved the original Resident Evil, and the remake more than any of the other
games, and I've always really loved the members of Bravo team and Alpha team. I especially like Bravo team, just because so little is known about them. They must have been skilled
to be part of S.T.A.R.S. and I refuse to believe that they were killed off easily. I'd like to see a bit more of their untold stories. And it would seem that some of it will be coming out in
the Umbrella Chronicles.
If you don't know what a fanlisting is, then to put it simply it's a list of all the fans of a particular subject. In the case of this site, it's a list of all the fans of Richard Aiken. A fanlisting is meant for any and ALL fans. All you need is a name, country, and valid email address. You don't need a website, and you don't need to pay anything. It's just a list of fans, that's all. As long as you like something about Richard Aiken, whether it's his looks, his hair, his eyes, or his demeanor, or even if you just thought he was a neat character... If you like him you should join the fanlisting. But, since it's pretty much just a list of fans, now you'll probably understand why the main focus of the site is on the Shrine part. If you're not into fanlistings, that's fine. Just enjoy the Shrine part of the site. ;) After all, just because you aren't "listed" on this site, doesn't mean you aren't a fan. It IS just a list after all, right? Now, in case you were wondering, I got lucky and I ended up playing the Resident Evil remake first. It wasn't the first time I'd heard of the series, no. The first time I heard about it, was around the time Resident Evil 3 came out. I looked into all the games, I found out everything I could about them, and ended up ruining most of the games for myself. I've had almost every Resident Evil game spoiled for me, either by my own doing, or other people, and I'm only upset when other people do it. Because of that, I don't like to spoil things for other people, thus the reason on my main page, that I have a pretty clear warning that you WILL find unmarked spoilers on this site. After I played the remake, I fell in love with the series, and now I've played almost every game in the series... There's still a few I need to get ahold of, but yeah... I'll be honest, Richard kind of sucked in the original game. Of course, in some ways, EVERYONE sucked, because of the horrible voice acting. But, I will be honest... Richard was the one who made me laugh the hardest too. Anyway, I thought he was much better done in the remake, and I'm hoping that he will be even better done in The Umbrella Chronicles. So far, he's looking damn good. This site is a subdomain of Spencer Mansion. That particular site has been around for several years now. I finally got a domain for it late last year, and early this year, I discovered Fanlistings. Someone had put a few Resident Evil-based Fanlistings up for adoption, and since they were things I really liked, I adopted them. At that point, I was very intrigued by fanlistings, and wanted some more. About that time, I figured out that I could have subdomains. Well... I decided that I would start the fanlisting, for some of the less-loved, or at least recognized characters in the series, because I liked them so much. That's where this idea for Richard's site came from. However, since at the time that I applied for the fanlisting, I had made a bunch of screenshots of Richard, I had already decided that Valor would be born, whether I was approved or not. So, now you know how the site came into being. Originally, yes, it was inspired by the fact that I thought I could get the fanlisting for Richard, but more recently, I've decided to make the main focus the Shrine. Fanlistings are nice, and interesting and all, but I think it's really more important to people to have the information and the images. And I know I like information and images more myself. ;) |
